History of FRAMOS - the FRAMOS Success Story

FRAMOS is the leading European sales organisation in the digital image-processing sector. With branches in England and Germany, we supply a wide range of image-processing equipment, from CCD- and CMOS-sensors up to complete camera systems - and our extensive product range is rounded off by the latest GPS components. To complete the package, our high-tech products are backed up by more than 20 years' experience of providing comprehensive technical and sales support.
We continually make new investments in the digital image-processing market. Our biennial CCD-Forum has both a national and international reputation among the experts in this field, thanks to its highly qualified speakers and other participants. Because data-transfer is of ever-increasing importance in the modern world, our close collaboration with leading suppliers is a big benefit. These close connections with the world's leading vendors of technology enable us to spot trends and innovations as they emerge, so that we can provide our customers with all the relevant information, and also develop our own innovative product concepts very quickly.

04/81
Bernd Franz founded FRAMOS Electronic Vertriebs GmbH.
During his successful career with one of the largest electronics companies, Bernd Franz acted as project leader for the installation and commissioning of major industrial plants. In addition, he was partner in various well-known high-tech companies. In the early days, FRAMOS focused on the power-supply sector, with the products Power One and Volgen.

1982
The company's successful collaboration with Sony commenced with a 100 MHz 8 Bit A/D converter. This working partnership laid the foundations for future specialisation in the growing market for industrial image-processing.

1990
Technical development in the digital image-processing sector progressed in rapid strides. As an established German company in the European Market, FRAMOS continued to focus on image-processing. By continually extending its know-how in this field, FRAMOS was able to assist its customers in the development of complex products.

1993
In order to respond more closely to its customers' needs, FRAMOS started to offer its own products, such as A/D and RGB converters, camera modules and cameras.
By now the company was aiming increasingly at the international market, and especially the European Market.

1998
FRAMOS extends its product range by marketing cameras from Pacific Corporation. In its board and housed cameras, Pacific uses CCD sensors and components by Sony, which are also marketed by FRAMOS. This means both top quality for the camera systems and also the best possible technical support.

2001
The product range is continually extended. In addition to the extremely successful CCD sensors from Sony, FRAMOS now also offers its customers CMOS image-sensors from FillFactory. These sensors are noted for their low current consumption, high functionality and good image quality.

04/2002
FRAMOS opens an independent sales office close to London. FRAMOS now markets its products from Basingstoke, England's "Silicon Valley", so as to provide on-the-spot service to the growing English market. FRAMOS UK has a permanent link to the German office, basing its operation on FRAMOS' already-proven policy for the English-speaking and Scandinavian territories.

10/2002
FRAMOS adds a new partnership, with Trimble, the leading and innovative GPS supplier, and another reliable partner in the high-tech market. With the addition of Trimble, FRAMOS now has an extensive product range in the rapid-growth GPS module market sector.

2002/2003
The company's turnover passes the 10 million Euro mark.
While others are lamenting the poor world-wide economic situation, FRAMOS sees only a steady growth in its turnover in the digital image-processing market.

10/2003
The beginning of a new co-operation with Canadian camera-maker Lumenera Corp. With their USB2.0 cameras, FRAMOS is now able to fill a vacant niche in the market.

2003/2004
Despite the general economic depression, the company increases its turnover past the 13-million Euro mark.
